Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar Review

I've been a big fan of solid body and hollow body electrics for years. That being said, I've been looking for a more resonant sound that I can play anywhere, which is why I started looking into a good acoustic. Being the type that likes to get his feet wet before diving in, I decided to do some research and see what a good beginner's acoustic would look like, and I feel that the Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar is one of the better instruments available.

Things to Consider Before Buying an Acoustic Guitar

Guitar playing is becoming very popular today thanks to software like Rocksmith and Yousician, but since these options are usually for electric, many acoustic guitars go unsold. This is a real shame for anyone that loves the clean sound of an acoustic guitar. This is why this Jasmine instrument is so useful; it's very inexpensive so that those that are interested in acoustic guitar can find it easy to get into. It also has a great build, so anyone looking to impress others with their instrument should definitely look into it.

The Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar

Acoustic guitars come in a few different body types, and the Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar is one of the Dreadnaught-types. It has a very well-balanced feel to it and little features like the rosette around the sound hole look absolutely beautiful.

  • It has a great glossy look to it
  • It's a good travel guitar because of its lightness
  • Due to X bracing, the sound of the Jasmine S34C is really vivid and full.
  • This guitar has 21 frets
  • The materials aren't top-notch
  • They could have used higher quality tuning pegs
  • When it comes to sound, it's good, but not as high-quality as more expensive instruments

Features and Benefits

Unique X Bracing

Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar

The bracing of an acoustic guitar is very important to the structural stability and the sound that the acoustic produces. The bracing is the wood pattern that sits underneath the wood top of the guitar and is usually comprised of several pieces of wood that hold the guitar together. The bracing on the Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar follows an X-pattern that provides excellent stability and also really creates a resonant and complete tone.

Jasmine doesn't have the patent on X bracing, but their product-specific style of X bracing has a pattern that has been shifted forward somewhat so that the wood is closer to the sound hole. This allows for more reverberation and a higher degree of detail that I really enjoyed when I was strumming on it.

Beautiful Styling

It's easy to get a cheapo acoustic guitar, but it's not easy to get a great budget-friendly guitar that has a great aesthetic design. The Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar is a beautiful guitar that I was very impressed with from a design perspective.

Perfect for Training

Even if you're an electric guitar fan like myself, there's a lot of benefit that you can derive from owning an acoustic guitar like the Jasmine S34C NEX Acoustic Guitar. First, you'll never have to plug in, which means that you can have impromptu practice sessions. Unless you have a dedicated studio space or a area that's set aside for your electric, it's always going to be a hassle to set up an electric, so having a easy to grab and play guitar is a definite positive.

Also, working on an acoustic before you switch to electric is a great way to build up your finger dexterity. The sizing on the frets of the Jasmine S34C NEX acoustic can really help you develop your scales as well.

For a few dollars more (just six), you can purchase this acoustic guitar by Hola! It's a very nice looking dreadnaught that has a darker design to it than the Jasmine model. I really liked this one because the pick guard is completely optional, which gives you a bit of customizability. Additionally, mahogany is an excellent tonewood, so you can expect a fairly good sound quality from this instrument.
